Jeffrey "Jeff" Jay Stranathan

Jeffrey “Jeff” Jay Stranathan, 71, of Cedar Rapids, Iowa, passed away on Friday, June 26, 2026, at his home. Visitation: 4 – 7 p.m. Wednesday, July 1, 2026, at Bethany Lutheran Church. Funeral Service: 10:30 a.m. Thursday, July 2, 2026, at the church. Private burial will take place at Linwood Cemetery, Cedar Rapids.

Jeff was born on December 24, 1954, in Nebraska, the son of Charles and Faye (Speckmann) Stranathan. He married Donna Carnicle on June 28, 1975. Jeff worked for Mid-State Distribution, retiring in 2019. Jeff was a member of Bethany Lutheran Church and volunteered at the Bethany Food Pantry. He played drums in three local bands, including “Sunset”. Jeff was the jack of all trades, constantly working on new projects. He loved taking care of his plants and lawn, doing newspaper puzzles, and attending his granddaughters’ activities.

Survivors include his wife, Donna Stranathan of Cedar Rapids; daughters, Tracy (Troy) Donels of Hiawatha, Iowa and Kelly (Brandon) West of Peoria, Arizona; granddaughters, Mariela Bieberach of Peoria, Arizona and Taylor Donels of Hiawatha, Iowa; sister, Laurie (Bob) Pearson of Dallas Center, Iowa; brother, Craig Stranathan of Maysville, North Carolina; as well as a large extended family.

He was preceded in death by his parents.
