Jesse Michael Moore, 76, of Central City, Iowa, passed away peacefully on Thursday, March 26, 2026, at his home. Services will be held at a later date. Murdoch Funeral Home & Cremation Service of Central City is assisting the family with arrangements.

Jesse was born on September 16, 1949, in Cass County, Texas, the son of L.C. and Lois Alma (Payne) Moore. He was a graduate of Tipton High School and went on to attend trade school, where he completed his education that allowed him to become a High Hazard Welder. He worked for 32 years at Monsanto and then worked for the Alburnett School District’s transportation department. On February 28, 2004, Jesse was united in marriage to Lynette Gerst in Toddville, Iowa.

Fishing was one of Jesse’s beloved pastimes. He was also a gifted handyman and an avid tinkerer, always eager to solve problems and create. Woodworking, particularly crafting holiday displays, was an expression of his creativity and passion, especially during Christmas—a season he loved dearly. Jesse was a man who would do anything for anyone, embodying generosity and selflessness in the truest sense. His grandchildren held an immensely special place in his life. To Jesse, they were the most important blessing, and he cherished every moment spent with them. He will be greatly missed by all who knew and loved him.

Jesse is survived and lovingly remembered by his wife, Lynette of Central City; two daughters, Christy (David) of California, and Amy (Chad) of Tipton, Iowa; son, Andy of Muscatine, Iowa; two step-sons, Ryan (Laurel) of Center Point, Iowa, and Curtis (Sarah) of Marion, Iowa; grandchildren, Mackenzie, Cady, Kayla, Abagail, Cory, Ava, Claire, Charlotte, Madison, Marshall, and Greyson; nephew, Lenny; and niece, Carie.

He was preceded in death by his parents; sister, Geraldine (Kenneth) Dinkins; and brother, Leonard (Carol) Moore.
