Jewel Eugene Smith, 70, of 2205 Westdale Dr. SW, died February 7, 2007 at Mercy Hospital in Cedar Rapids following a long-term illness.

Jewel is survived by his children, Sue Doby of Grand Rapids, MI, Mike Smith and Mark Smith of California, Doug Simmons of Hiawatha, Dave Simmons of Ft. Dodge, Deniece Smith of Cedar Rapids, Jamaal Smith, Ahmad Smith and Hykim Smith, all of Iowa; eleven grandchildren; one great-grandchild; brothers, Leon Smith of Cedar Rapids, Bruce Smith of California, William Smith of Portland, OR; and two sisters, Sarah Hobbs of Minnesota and Betty Clark of Cedar Rapids.
