Joan Dorothy Boyse, 86, of Central City, died peacefully after a sudden illness on Wednesday, May 26, 2010, at St. Luke’s Hospital in Cedar Rapids. Family will greet friends from 4-7 p.m. Friday, May 28, 2010, at the Murdoch Funeral Home & Cremation Service in Central City.

Survivors include two daughters, Susan (Charles) Simms and Denise (Kim) Seeley; 3 grandchildren; 2 great-grandchildren; and a sister.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Kenneth; a son, Kenny; her parents; and a sister, Beryl Lovell.

Joan was born June 7, 1923 in London, England, the daughter of Arthur and Mollie (Booty) Whetten. In 1944, she married Kenneth Boyse in London, England. Joan served in England’s Royal Air Force – WAAF. She worked as a test technician for Turner Microphone.
