Joan "Jody Kay? Lawrence, 73, of 5960 Kacena Avenue, Marion, died Friday, May 12, 2006, in Mercy Medical Center, Cedar Rapids, after a short illness. Services:11:00 a.m. Tuesday, May 16, 2006, at Murdoch Funeral Home & Cremation Center, Marion, by the Rev. Jonna Jensen. Inurnment: Riverside Cemetery, Anamosa. Survivors include her children, Terrie (Alan) Christensen of Muskeego, Wisconsin, Julie (Dave) Bellendier of Marion, and Holleen (Mike) Roder of Des Moines; six grandchildren, Ryan Hansen, Sara Lawrence, Joshua Tapken, Rebecca (Chris) Hodges, Kortni (Brett) Blondi and Katie Bellendier; a great-granddaughter, Emma Rose Blondi; and a great-grandson, due in July.
She was preceded in death by her parents and a sister, Inez Sellers.
Jody Kay was born October 9, 1932, the daughter of Thomas Jefferson Sharpe and Della Barnes Sharpe, in Cedar Rapids. She was united in marriage to Gilbert M. Lawrence on September 5, 1951, in Prairieburg, Iowa. He died September 15, 1964. Jody Kay retired from Rockwell, where she worked in various office positions. She then worked as a sales clerk at Younker?s from 1983 until 2005. Jody Kay was a member of United Church of Christ in Central City.
Jody Kay enjoyed watching baseball and eating out, especially at the Hy-Vee Deli. She liked visiting with friends and spending time with her family, especially with her great-granddaughter and was eagerly looking forward to the arrival of her great-grandson.
