Joel Adam Caspers

Joel Adam Caspers, 43, of Marion, Iowa, passed away on Saturday, May 9, 2026. Private burial will take place at a later date at Prairie Hill Cemetery in Monticello, Iowa. Murdoch-Linwood Funeral Home & Cremation Service, Cedar Rapids, assisted the family.

Joel was born on June 24, 1982, in Cedar Rapids, Iowa, the son of Doug and Lynda (Hayen) Caspers. He graduated as a valedictorian from Prairie High School in 2001 and received his bachelor’s degree in management information systems from The University of Northern Iowa in 2005. He worked as a software engineer for over 20 years and was highly regarded in his field. Joel enjoyed golfing, Los Angeles Lakers basketball; especially Kobe Bryant, San Francisco 49ers football, and spending time with his nieces and nephews.

Survivors include his parents, Doug and Lynda Caspers; siblings, Brett (Alicia) Caspers and Eric (Kelly) Caspers; and his nieces and nephews, Johanna, Hewitt, Everett, Natalie, Landon, and Caleb.

He was preceded in death by his grandparents, Henry and Irma Jean Caspers and George and Betty Richardson, and Galen Hayen.
