John Sommers Harford, 86, of 1080 8th Street, Marion, died Friday, December 23, 2005, at his home following a short illness. Services: 2 p.m. Wednesday, December 28, 2005, at Murdoch Funeral Home & Cremation Center, Marion, by Rev. Christine Wagner-Hecht. Burial: Oak Hill Cemetery, Cedar Rapids. Friends may call at the funeral home from 4 - 8 p.m. Tuesday (Dec. 27.)

Survivors include his children, John (Judy) Harford of Alburnett, Delbert (LaDonna) Harford of Cedar Rapids, Donna May (Leland) Swenson of Van Horne, Charlie (William) McNitt of Cedar Rapids, Terry (Diana) Harford of Marion and Carol (Butch) Longerbeam of Marion; twenty-three grandchildren; thirty-nine great-grandchildren; and three great-great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his parents; his wife, Donna; and brothers, Edward Harford, twin-brothers, Harry and John W. Harford, Lawrence Harford and Albert Harford.

John was born March 25, 1919, the son of Marion Francis Harford and Mary Mae Sommers Harford in Cedar Rapids. He was united in marriage to Donna Grace Phillips on November 25, 1938, in Cedar Rapids. She died October 17, 1991. John was a truck driver for the Cedar Rapids Street Department for fifteen years.

John enjoyed music, dancing, playing rhythm bones, spoons, and the accordion. He was a true Hawkeye and Chicago Cubs fan. John loved his "pup?, Teeny.
