John H. Morse, 76, a longtime resident of the community of Western, died Sunday, December 18, 2005, at Mercy Medical Center, Cedar Rapids, following a long illness. Services: 10:00 a.m. Thursday, December 22, 2005, at Hope Lutheran Church, Cedar Rapids, by the Rev. Dan Clark-Bridges. The family will greet friends from 4 to 8 p.m. Wednesday, December 21, 2005, at Murdoch-Linwood Funeral Home & Cremation Service, Cedar Rapids. Burial: Western Cemetery, Cedar Rapids.
Survivors include his wife of 55 years, Luella; his children, Allen (Diann) Morse of Covington, Sandra Morse of Tipton, and Glenda Morse of Whittier; four granddaughters, Joslyn, Adriann, Shannon and Falen; and two sisters, Velma Rosendahl of Praireburg and Darlene Connor of Central City.
He was preceded in death by his parents; and a brother, Ralph.
John was born March 18, 1929, the son of Timothy and Grace (Chapman) Morse, in Prairieburg, Iowa. On July 29, 1950, he was united in marriage to Luella Dellamuth in Cedar Rapids. For 38 years, John worked for Iowa Steel as an electrician and then worked at LaSalle High School for six years in maintenance.
