John Stephen Klima, 70, of Cedar Rapids, died January 1, 2015, at Unity Point St. Luke’s Hospice. A private interment will be held at Shiloh Cemetery, Hiawatha.
A Celebration of his Life will be held on Saturday, January 17, 2015, at the Helen G. Nassif YMCA, Cedar Rapids, at 1:00 p.m., by Chaplain Phil Saunder.
Steve was born July 22, 1944, the son of Rudy and Hazel Dawn Hobbs Klima. He worked nearly 30 years at Quaker Oats. He served in the U.S. Army during the 1960s. Among his interests were daily visits to the YMCA, reading books, being and avid philanthropist, a strong NRA member, riding in Century cabs, and eating at Emil’s Deli and Deb’s Ice Cream.
Steve was preceded in death by his parents; a uncle, John D. Hobbs; and an aunt, Lavonia Clark Hobbs of Taos, New Mexico. He is survived by his cousin, Erica D. Hobbs of Taos, New Mexico.
