Johnie Cyrus Fulmer, 89, of Cedar Rapids, Iowa, died Tuesday, May 19, 2020, at ManorCare. A private family graveside service will be held at Urbana Memorial Cemetery, Urbana, Iowa. Murdoch Funeral Home & Cremation Service, Center Point, Iowa is assisting the family with arrangements.
Johnie was born April 28, 1931, in Vinton, Iowa, the son of Joseph and Leta (Rouse) Fulmer. He graduated from Urbana High School. After high school, Johnie proudly served his country in the United States Air Force during the Korean War. Johnie married Meredith Carter on July 11, 1953, in Presque Isle, Maine. He was previously a heavy equipment operator and mechanic. From 1976 onward he was a missionary evangelist in the Philippines. Johnie was also a former founding member of Prairie Drive Full Gospel Church. He enjoyed studying the Bible and teaching others the beauty and grace of the Word.
Survivors include his wife, Meredith Fulmer of Cedar Rapids; son, Mark (Teresa) Fulmer of Cedar Rapids, grandchildren, Matthew (Michelle) Fulmer of Cedar Rapids, April (Robert) Bent of Bondurant, Iowa and Jason Chambers of Cedar Rapids; and seven great-grandchildren.
Johnie was preceded in death by his parents and brother, Lynford Fulmer.
