Joseph "Joe? J. Dusil, 81, of Troy Mills, died Sunday morning, March 7, 2004, in Cedar Valley Hospice Home, Waterloo, following a short illness. Services: 10:30 a.m. Tuesday, March 9, 2004, at Troy Mills Christian Church, Troy Mills, by the Rev. Les Larson. Burial: Troy Mills Cemetery, with military rites. Friends may call from 5-7 p.m. today (Monday) at Murdoch Funeral Home & Cremation Service, Walker.
Survivors include his wife, Bernice; a daughter Jean Ann (Brent) Bean of White Oak, Iowa; four grandchildren, Eric (Marcine) Bean of Denver, Colorado, Adam ( Shannon) Bean of Ankeny, Kyle (Trisha) Dusil of Troy Mills and Carly Ann Dusil of Cedar Rapids; six great-grandchildren; and two brothers-in-law, Edmund and Ray Cook and their wives and families.
His parents; a sister, Bernice; and a son, Jim, preceded him in death.
Born January 22, 1923, in Marengo, Iowa, to William and Ruth Dvorak Dusil, he married Bernice Cook on September 15, 1942, in Kahoka, Missouri. Joe was a longtime resident and farmer in the Troy Mills area. A World War II Army veteran, he served with the Pacific Theatre in the Okinawa invasion, and was a three-time recipient of the Bronze Star. He was a 55-year member of the Lloyd & Williamson Troy Mills American Legion, and attended Troy Mills Christian Church. Joe was a charter member of the Good Sam Two Rivers Camping Club.
Joe was a caring husband, father and grandfather that loved his family. He enjoyed his garden, woodworking and traveling.
