JC Otto, 67, of 173 Sunrise Drive NW, Cedar Rapids, Iowa, died Friday, August 31, 2007, in St. Luke’s Hospital, Cedar Rapids, following a short illness. Funeral Mass: 10:00 a.m., Wednesday, September 5, 2007, at St. Jude’s Catholic Church, Cedar Rapids. Friends may call from 4 to 9 p.m. Tuesday, September 4, 2007, at the church, with a Knights of Columbus Rosary at 6:00 p.m. and a vigil service at 7:00 p.m. Private burial: St. Joseph’s Cemetery at a later date.
Survivors include his wife, Theresa; mother, Lola Otto; children, Michael Otto and wife Jolly Nanda of Minneapolis, Minnesota and Tony Otto and partner Russ Mohr of Minneapolis, Minnesota; grandchild, Kirstin; and sister, Suzanne Geiger of Cedar Rapids.
He was preceded in death by his father.
Born November 1, 1939, in Keokuk, Iowa, the son of Charles and Lola (McNally) Otto, he married Theresa Danehy in June of 1969 in Cedar Rapids. He served in the Air Force during the Vietnam War where he worked in the Chaplin service. JC was the General Manager of Bishops Buffet and most recently deacon for the Archdiocese of Dubuque.
He was the Archdiocese of Dubuque Chaplin for the Boy Scouts of America, 4th Degree Knights of Columbus and active with Troop # 33. JC was an avid camper, loved hiking, cooking and especially feeding people. He was a devoted Grandpa.
In lieu of flowers a memorial fund has been established in JC’s memory.
