Joseph Konzen, 93, of Earlville, Iowa, passed away on Tuesday, December 24, 2019, at Regional Medical Center in Manchester. A Parish Vigil Service will be held at 2:45 p.m. on Sunday, December 29, 2019, at Clifton-Murdoch Funeral Home & Cremation Service, Earlville. Following vigil service the family will greet friends from 3 – 7 p.m. at the funeral home. Funeral Mass will be held at 10:30 a.m. on Monday, December 30, 2019, at St. Joseph Catholic Church, Earlville. Burial will take place at St. Joseph Cemetery, Earlville.

Joseph was born August 28, 1926, in Petersburg, Iowa, the son of Nicholas and Gertrude (Kraus) Konzen. He graduated from Earlville High School in 1944. Joe served in the United States Army during the Korean War. On June 18, 1955, in Manchester, Iowa, he was united in marriage to Virginia Kewney. Joe was a janitor for 30 years in the Earlville School District and at the Good Neighbor Home for 10 years. He was a member of the Earlville American Legion Post #436 for 65 plus years and the Earlville Fire Department for 16 years. Joe was a very faithful man, praying the rosary every day and he loved going to church. He also enjoyed fishing, Chicago Cubs, and Iowa Hawkeye football. Joe was very devoted to his wife’s care and appreciated family and friends. He will be greatly missed by all who knew and loved him.

He is survived by his son, Chris Konzen of Earlville; brother, Richard Konzen of Bryan, Texas; sisters, Alice Tauke of Dyersville, Iowa, and Marie O’Neill of Algonquin, Illinois; and many nieces and nephews.

Joe was preceded in death by his parents; wife, Virginia; four brothers, Edward, Elmer, William, and Lawrence; and three sisters, Virginia “Ginny” Konzen, Kay Wood and Jane Woods.
