Josephine “Josie” C. Boeckenstedt, 95, of Greeley, died Wednesday, July 4, 2007 at the Edgewood Convalescent Home in Edgewood following a short illness.
Funeral Mass will be at 10:30 a.m. on Saturday, July 7, 2007 at St. Mark's Catholic Church in Edgewood by Rev. Bob Davies. Family will greet friends from 2-8 p.m. on Friday with a rosary at 2:30 p.m. and scripture service at 5:00 p.m. at the Clifton-Murdoch Funeral Home & Cremation Service in Earlville and one hour before services Saturday at the church. Burial will be in St. Joseph's Catholic Cemetery in Greeley.
Josie was born September 6, 1911 in New Vienna, the daughter of Alois and Anna (Wedewer) Lansing. On October 7, 1930 she was united in marriage to Elmer H. Boeckenstedt in New Vienna. The couple farmed in the Greeley area.
Josie enjoyed singing in St. Joseph's Choir in Greeley for 40 years. She loved quilting and her many grandchildren.
Josie is survived by her children, Allie Boeckenstedt of Greeley, Leon Boeckenstedt and Merle (Judy) Boeckenstedt, both of Manchester, Alice (Reynold) Tegeler and Agnes (Robert) Wegmann, both of Edgewood, Elaine (LeRoy) Mullis of Earlville, Jane (Win) Thomas of West Lebanon, IN; thirty-eight grandchildren; fifty-seven great-grandchildren; several great-great-grandchildren; a son-in-law, Don Moorman; a brother, Alois Lansing of New Vienna; and a sister-in-law, Zita Lansing of Dubuque.
Josie was preceded in death by her parents, Alois & Anna Lansing, her husband, Elmer Boeckenstedt on September 20, 1970; three children, Gladys Boeckenstedt, Elmer Boeckenstedt, Jr., and Mary Moormann; three brothers, John, Clement and Leo Lansing; three sisters, Catherine Boeckenstedt, Gertrude Steger and Marie Weber; a granddaughter, Susan Wegmann; and two daughters-in-law, Wilma Boeckenstedt and Marie Boeckenstedt.
