Judith “Judy” Jane Kolda, 78, of Central City, Iowa, passed away on Thursday, December 24, 2020, of natural causes at Anamosa Care Center in Anamosa, Iowa. A private Funeral Mass will be held at St. Stephen’s Catholic Church in Central City, with Reverend Nick March officiating. Burial will follow at Cedar Memorial Park Cemetery in Cedar Rapids, Iowa. Murdoch Funeral Home & Cremation Service of Central City is assisting the family.
Judy was born on January 14, 1942, in Anamosa, Iowa, the daughter of Leo and Alice (Holub) Wolfe. She graduated from Coggon High School. On October 31, 1964, Judy was united in marriage to Franklin Harold Kolda, Jr. at St. Joseph Catholic Church in Prairieburg, Iowa. She was the owner/operator of Judy’s Beauty Shop, retiring in 2005. Judy was a member of St. Joseph Catholic Church in Prairieburg and later St. Stephen’s Catholic Church in Central City. She enjoyed sewing, crocheting, gardening, and listening to her husband play music. Most of all, Judy loved spending time with her family. She will be greatly missed by all who knew and loved her.
Judy is survived and lovingly remembered by her daughter, Andy (Eric) Dettbarn of Monona, Iowa; son, Kenny Kolda (Cassie Mikhail) of Granite City, Illinois; three grandchildren, Dalton and Lexi Dettbarn, and Madden Mikhail; sister-in-law, Sandra Ochs; and uncle, Leonard Holub.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Leo and Alice Wolfe; husband in 2018, Harold Kolda; daughter in 2016, Kristin Kolda; sister, Patricia McDonell; and father-in-law and mother-in-law, Harold and Gwen Kolda.
