Julia Kolek

Julia Kolek, 94, of Springville, died Tuesday, December 27, 2005, at Bickford Cottage in Marion, following a short illness. Services: 1:30 p.m. Saturday, December 31, 2005, at Murdoch Funeral Home & Cremation Center, Marion, by the Rev. Karen Downey Beals. Burial: Czech National Cemetery, Cedar Rapids. Friends may call from 4 - 7 p.m. Friday at the funeral home.
Survivors include two sons, Ken Kolek and wife Ginni of Central City and Henry Price of Orange, California; five grandchildren, Becky, Katya, Jeff, Monica and Adam; and four great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Dick; two sons, Paul and David; two brothers, George and Ernie Telecky; and five grandchildren, Bill, Christopher, Brent, Angela and Amanda.
Julia was born the daughter of Frank and Tillie Telecky on April 11, 1911, in Cedar Rapids. She was united in marriage to Joseph "Dick? Kolek on January 5, 1932, in Cedar Rapids. He died January 30, 2000. Julia and her husband farmed for many years in the Springville area. She was a member of Springville Presbyterian Church, the Presbyterian Women?s Circle and Paralta Embroidery Club.
Julia loved crocheting, baking and received great enjoyment sharing those with her family and friends.
A memorial fund has been established for Hospice of Mercy in memory of Julia.
