Junior "Whitey? C. Huggins, 78, of Urbana, died Sunday, April 2, 2006, at the Crestview Acres Care Center in Marion, following a long illness. Services: 11 a.m. Friday, April 7, 2006, at First Presbyterian Church in Cedar Rapids by Rev. Ted Miller. Visitation will be from 4-8 p.m. Thursday at Murdoch Funeral Home & Cremation Center in Marion.

Survivors include three daughters, Cyndie Harmon of West Palm Beach, Florida, Julie (Al) Christophersen of Cedar Rapids and Janel (Darrin) McCann of Fairbank; three sons, Jerry (Penny) Huggins of Hiawatha, Tom (Mary) Huggins of Lake Rathbun and Michael (Tanya) Huggins of Florida; a step-daughter, Kathy Franklin of Texas; two step-sons, Michael (Carol) McNamara of Urbana and Scott (Arlene) Walters of Marion; a sister, Bernice Clarke of Cedar Rapids; twenty-five grandchildren; and ten great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his parents; his wife Shirley; a step-son, Brian Walters; a sister; and four brothers.

Whitey was born April 18, 1927, the son of George Huggins and Lulu Shirley in Hopkinton. On March 26, 1973, he married Shirley Smith in Marion. She died in 1997. He worked for Wilson Foods for thirty years and also for Chuck Klima Petroleum Maintenance Company. Whitey and Shirley were also the owner/operators of Grime Busters.

Whitey was an avid outdoorsman, he especially loved fishing, mushroom hunting, sitting around campfires at his property at Lake Rathbun with family and friends.
