Kandis Kay "Kandy" Childs

Kandis Kay “Kandy” Childs, 76, of Cedar Rapids, Iowa passed away Friday, February 6, 2026, at the Dennis & Donna Oldorf Hospice House of Mercy in Hiawatha, Iowa. Visitation: 4 – 7 p.m. Thursday, February 12, 2026, at Murdoch-Linwood Funeral Home & Cremation Service in Cedar Rapids. Funeral Mass: 10:00 a.m. Friday, February 13, 2026, at St. Jude Catholic Church in Cedar Rapids. Burial: St. Joseph’s Cemetery in Cedar Rapids.

Kandis was born February 14, 1948, in Oelwein, Iowa, the daughter of Darrell and Rita (Dalen) Adams. She graduated from Starmont High School in 1967. On October 24, 1970, Kandy was united in marriage to Dennis Childs at Saint Mary’s Catholic Church in Strawberry Point, Iowa. Kandy worked at Amana Refrigeration for 40 years and was a member of St. Jude Catholic Church.

Survivors include her husband, Dennis Childs of Cedar Rapids; sons, Rick (Heidi) Childs of Solon, Iowa and Jamie (Heather) Childs of Cedar Rapids; grandchildren, Jordan (Kyle) Childs-Brandenburg of Cedar Rapids, Brandan (Alexis) Childs, and Bailey (Mason) Childs, all of Des Moines, Cameron Childs and Emma Childs, both of West Des Moines; brother, Dave (Liz) Adams of Cedar Rapids; sister, Kathy (Steve) Kamoss of Strawberry Point, Iowa; sister-in-law, Carol Adams of Cedar Rapids; brothers-in-law, Duane (Emily) Childs and Don (Susie) Childs; future great-grandson, Maverick; several nieces, nephews and cousins; as well as great-grand puppies.

She was preceded in death by her parents; brother, Larry; best friend, Nancy Myers; and brother-in-law, Dave Childs.
