Karol Jones, 54, of Cedar Rapids, Iowa, died Wednesday, September 29, 2021, at her home. A visitation will be held from 11 a.m. – 12 p.m. Monday, October 18, 2021, at Mt. Zion Mission Baptist Church, Cedar Rapids with a funeral service to immediately follow at 12 p.m. at the church. Burial: Cedar Memorial Park Cemetery, Cedar Rapids. Murdoch-Linwood Funeral Home & Cremation Service, Cedar Rapids, assisted the family.
Karol was born May 27, 1967, in Chicago, Illinois, the daughter of Myrtis and James Jones. In her early years she followed her dreams and graduated from hair school. Later she pursued a career in customer service. Giving her life to Christ, she became a member of Living Waters Church.
Karol loved spending time with her children, grandchildren, and friends. She was known for her cooking, silly personality, and laughter, but most of all, keeping it real. Ms. Karol had a warm heart, helped others even if she was in a bind, always had a listening ear and a shoulder to cry on.
Survivors include the father of her children and long-time friend, Wayne Friend; stepmother, Betty Lett-Jones; daughter, Tiffany Jones; son, Rayshaun Friend; step-sons, John Demoss and Jabari and Tivarion Friend; siblings, Toni Franklin, Phillip and Andre Jones; in-laws, Louis and Vanessa Friend; nieces; Ashley O’Leary, Tamara Jones, and Cynthia, Laverne, Shamicka, Syreeta Lloyd; nephews, Lance Franklin, Andre Jones, Jr., Lamar Friend and Lanier Lloyd; grandchildren, Tinyja Jones, Eimyah Gilmore, Zakirrah Smith, Sir’Mere McLaurin, Nivea Benjamin, Rayshaun Jr., Larayah and Lariyah Friend, Sincere Wise, Stevon and Destiny Flowers; one to come, Sire Jones-McLaurin; and a host of extended family and friends.
Karol was preceded in death by her parents, Myrtis and James Jones, and son, Wayne Jones.
