Katherine Pearl "Kay" Mersch (Mersch)

Katherine “Kay” Pearl Mersch, 76, of Marion, formerly of Cedar Rapids, died Thursday, October 28, 2010, at Mercy Medical Center in Cedar Rapids, following a short illness. Funeral service: 12:00 p.m. Monday, November 1, 2010, at Murdoch Funeral Home & Cremation Center in Marion, by Rev. Del Bear, where family will greet friends after 10 a.m. until service time. Inurnment will be in St. Mary’s Cemetery, Masonville, Iowa, at a later date.
Survivors include her sister, Polly (Lynn) Hudecek of Cedar Rapids; many cousins; and her dog, Lucy.
She was preceded in death by her parents; and stepmother, Daphine Mersch.
Kay was born January 19, 1934, in Masonville, Iowa, the daughter of Kenneth Mersch and Cathryn Diggins. She received her R.N. degree from Mt. Mercy in Cedar Rapids and worked as an office nurse for Dr.’s Ingle & Conkling, General Surgeons, for over 30 years. She greatly loved the 8 dogs she had over the past 50 years.
