Kenneth R. Delaney, 76, of 1639 Park Town Ct. NE, died Thursday, March 11, 2004, at Mercy Medical Center, following a short illness. Services: 11 a.m. Monday, March 15, 2004 at St. Joseph Catholic Church in Marion by Rev. Jose? Luis Comparan. Friends may call from 1-5 p.m. Sunday at Murdoch Funeral Home & Cremation Center in Marion where a parish vigil service will begin at 4:30 p.m.
Survivors include his brother, Harold Delaney of Dubuque and his sister, Jane Gansen and husband Cyril of Peosta; special friends, James A. and Sheila A. Hutton of Vinton; and several nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents; four brothers, Edward, Elmer, Thomas and Robert Delaney; and three sisters, Dorothy Delaney, Betty Schmitt and Nancy Potter.
Kenneth was born April 19, 1927, in Lamotte, the son of Thomas E. and Blanche (Kringle) Delaney. He served with the U.S. Army during the Korean Conflict. Kenneth worked as a Golf Superintendent for the City of Cedar Rapids, retiring in 1990. During his time as Golf Superintendent he helped construct Jones and Twin Pines golf courses in Cedar Rapids. He was a member of the American Legion.
Military rites will be conducted by American Legion Post No. 298 of Marion.
