Larry E. Darling, 53, of 1115 I Avenue NW, Cedar Rapids, died Monday, July 26, 2004, at St. Luke?s Hospital, Cedar Rapids, following sudden illness. Memorial Services: 10:30 a.m. Friday, July 30, 2004, at Murdoch-Linwood Funeral Home & Cremation Service, Cedar Rapids. Friends may greet the family after 10:00 a.m. Friday at the funeral home.
Survivors include a brother, David (Dixie) Mitchell of Marion; two sisters, Rita (Michael) Mullholand of Cedar Rapids and Linda Huisman of Reinbeck; a stepbrother, Lawrence, Jr; and a stepsister, Connie.
Also surviving are four nieces; three nephews; and great-nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents; and stepfather, Lawrence Yancey.
Larry was born January 17, 1951, in Eldora, Iowa, and raised by his mother and stepfather, Phyllis (Mitchell) and Lawrence Yancey. A graduate from Vinton High School, he served with the United States Navy during the Vietnam War. Larry worked as a carpenter for 30 years. He was a member of the POW-MIA Vets, Bass Masters and NASCAR. Larry loved fishing and camping.
