Larry Dean Hartgrave

Larry Dean Hartgrave, 79, of Cedar Rapids, Iowa, died Sunday, June 22, 2025. The family will greet friends from 2 to 4 p.m. on Thursday, June 26, 2025, at Murdoch-Linwood Funeral Home & Cremation Service in Cedar Rapids. Burial will take place at a later date at Linwood Cemetery in Cedar Rapids.
Larry was born on February 3, 1946, in Iowa, to Robert and Anna (Gerard) Hartgrave. He graduated from Jefferson High School, where he was active in wrestling, football, and track. He continued his education at Wayne State College in Nebraska before serving honorably in the United States Air Force from 1965 to 1969.
Larry owned and operated his own lawncare business, working side-by-side with his son Jeff for 20 years, until his retirement in 2023. He especially loved spending time with his granddaughter, Carmen, and never passed up a trip to the buffet at Riverside Casino.
Survivors include his son, Jeff Hartgrave; granddaughter, Carmen Hartgrave; father, Robert Hartgrave; sisters, Connie Boyle, Cathy Nove, and Barb Clark; and many nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his mother, Anna Hartgrave.
