Larry Shannon

Larry Shannon, 84, of Hiawatha, Iowa, passed away on Saturday, April 25, 2026, at his home. A Celebration of Life will be held from 4 – 7 p.m. Thursday, May 7, 2026, at The Legacy Center at Murdoch-Linwood, Cedar Rapids. Burial will take place at St. Stephen’s Cemetery, Atkins, Iowa.

Larry was born April 7, 1942, in Waterloo, Iowa, the son of Clifford and Margaret (Holmes) Shannon. He served his country honorably in the United States Army. Larry was united in marriage to Ruth Williams on October 9, 1969, in Galena, Illinois. He worked at Rockwell Collins for over 30 years before retiring in 1999.

Survivors include his children, John Shannon of Hiawatha, and Jackie (Jamie) Wagner of Cedar Rapids; grandchildren, Samantha Shannon of Cedar Rapids, Jacob (Lex) Shannon of Oceanside, California, Brianna Luck (Brock) of Aplington, Iowa, and Brandon (Nicole) Wagner of Van Horne, Iowa; great-grandchildren, Brody Wagner, Frankie Wagner, Bronson Luck, and Brixton Luck; sister-in-law, Kay Williams of Dumfries, Virginia; and niece, Bobbi Goodman of Baxter Springs, Kansas.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Ruth Shannon; parents; brother, Wayne Shannon; and sister-in-law, Mary Fair.

Memorials may be directed to Hall Perrine Cancer Center in Cedar Rapids.
