A memorial service will begin at 10 a.m. on Saturday, August 22, 2026, at the Lutheran Church of the Resurrection in Marion. Larry was born on July 16, 1940, in Cherokee, Iowa, the son of Arthur William Carl and Lorene Mary Matilda (Wrede) Wogahn. Following high school, he pursued his lifelong passion for animals, attending Drake University before earning his Doctor of Veterinary Medicine from Iowa State University in 1965.

On August 5, 1961, Larry married the love of his life, Margaret Ohlson, at Mt. Olive Baptist Church in Cherokee. Together, they built a life rooted in faith, family, and shared service.

He began his veterinary career in Marion at Linn Animal Hospital in 1965, expanding to Parktown Animal Hospital in 1972, where he practiced until his retirement in 2001. Drawn by his love of the outdoors, Larry moved his family to an acreage outside of town, taking great pride in tending to his farm. He was also an avid angler who cherished fishing trips to Birch Lake in Canada with family and friends.

A dedicated veterinarian and active community leader, Larry was a lifelong Lutheran and a member of the Lutheran Church of the Resurrection in Marion. He was a proud member of the Acacia Fraternity, the American Veterinary Medical Association, the Iowa Veterinary Medical Association, and the Eastern Iowa Veterinary Association. Passionate about local education, he also served with distinction on the Linn-Mar School Board for five years. Larry will be greatly missed by all who knew and loved him.

Larry is survived and lovingly remembered by his wife of 65 years, Margaret Wogahn of Marion; three children, Brent (Kristin) Wogahn of Eau Claire, Wisconsin, Nancy (Larry) Busch of Anthem, Arizona, and Timothy (Linda) Wogahn of Wisconsin Rapids, Wisconsin; grandchildren, Kimberly, Kyle (Margaret), Jacob, Abigail, and Paige Wogahn, Lawson (Bailey), Connor, and Dayton Busch; and great-grandchild, Lenora Wogahn.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Arthur and Lorene.
