Laura Kay Taylor

Laura Kay Taylor, 59, of Robins, Iowa, passed away on Tuesday, March 3, 2026, at MercyOne Genesis Davenport Medical Center. Visitation will be held from 1 to 3 p.m. on Saturday, March 7, 2026, at Murdoch Funeral Home & Cremation Service in Marion, Iowa, with a Celebration of Life to begin at 3 p.m., with Certified Celebrant Suzanne Seigel Renner.

Laura was born on August 19, 1966, in Iowa, the daughter of John and Patricia (Beresford) Taylor. She was a 1984 graduate of Central City High School and went on to attend Kirkwood Community College, where she studied to become a veterinary technician. Laura worked at Goodwill as a job trainer and also served in the special education departments of several area schools. She worked at New Horizons, providing personal care and coaching to people with disabilities. Laura was united in marriage to Lori Hollingshead. Together, the couple devoted more than 30 years to foster care, opening their hearts and home to countless children. Laura cherished the time spent with her family and friends. She also had a special place in her heart for her beloved pets. Laura will be greatly missed by all who knew and loved her.

Laura is survived and lovingly remembered by her wife, Lori Hollingshead; children, Nick Hollingshead, Josh (Tausha) Hollingshead, Brad Hollingshead, Stephen (Claire) Taylor, Mike Taylor, Alec Taylor, Christian Taylor, and Spencer Taylor; grandchildren, Morgan, Isabelle, Porter, Olivia, and Emma Hollingshead, Oaklynn Kay, Madison, Charlotte, Jamysen, and Bindi Taylor, Madilynn, and Emilio; sisters, Lisa, and Lynette; and step-mother, Bev Taylor.

She was preceded in death by her parents, John and Patricia Taylor; daughter, Meagan Hollingshead; grandson, Jack Hollingshead; and her aunts.
