Lavon Ruth Cheney

LaVon Ruth Cheney, 79, of Cedar Rapids, passed away September 24, 2022, at Heritage Specialty Care in Cedar Rapids. Private family gathering will be held. Burial will take place at Linwood Cemetery, Cedar Rapids. Murdoch-Linwood Funeral Home & Cremation Service, Cedar Rapids, assisted the family.
LaVon was born October 20, 1942, in Austin, Minnesota, the daughter of Oscar and Ruth (Leqve) Moe. She enjoyed gardening, trips to the casino, and most of all, the time she spent with her children and grandchildren.
Survivors include her children, Kim (Mark) Matteson of Solon, Iowa, Mike Cheney of Walford, Iowa, and Jim (DeLaina) Cheney of Cedar Rapids; grandchildren, Alyssa (Jake) Stratton, Andrew (Amber) Cheney, Layka Cheney, Treyton Cheney, Ian (Caitlyn) Matteson, and Ashley (Michael) Reed; great-grandchildren, Walker James, and Colt Michael; siblings, Bonnie Jorgenson, Oscar Moe, and Elaine Rockers.
LaVon is preceded in death by her parents, Oscar and Ruth Moe, and siblings, Jeretta Berg, Jerry Moe, Glenn Moe, Arvid Moe, and infant, Greta Moe.
