Leonard N. Holm, 84, of 3720 - 28th Avenue, died Wednesday, April 5, 2006, at Mercy Medical Center, following a long illness. Services: 10:30 Saturday, April 8, 2006, at Murdoch Funeral Home & Cremation Center in Marion by Rev. Dennis Johnson and Rev. Kevin Jones. Visitation will be from 4-7 p.m. Friday at the funeral home. Burial: Cedar Memorial Park Cemetery, Cedar Rapids.
Survivors include his wife, Evelyn of Marion; two daughters, Ann Frederick and husband Joe of Normal, Illinois and Carol Bowden of Marion; a son, Howard Holm and wife Kyndra of Laurel, Maryland; a brother, Kenneth Holm of Burbank, California; a sister-in-law, Marion Clute of Lake San Marcos, California; and seven grandchildren, Chelsea, Jessica, Heather, Jeremy, Jason, Amy and Justin.
He was preceded in death by his parents; and a brother, John.
Leonard was born September 2, 1921, in Highland Township, Clayton County, Iowa to Lucas and Lillie Durscher Holm. He married Evelyn Clute December 23, 1951, at the Little Brown Church in Nashua. He served during World War II in the European theater with the 7th and 3rd armys under General George C. Patton and General Mark Clark and was highly decorated. Leonard was employed with Wilson and Company for 28 years, retiring in 1983.
Leonard and Evelyn were charter members of the Lutheran Church of the Resurrection in Marion. He was a member of the Wilson?s Retirees Club and the Marion American Legion Post No. 298.
Instead of flowers, a memorial fund has been established for Lutheran Church of the Resurrection, in Leonard?s memory.
