Leonard Leo Kolar, 74, of 3908 Red Bud Road NE, Cedar Rapids, died Friday, July 13, 2007, at St. Luke's Hospital, Cedar Rapids, following a long illness. Services: 10:30 a.m. Saturday, July 21, 2007, at Murdoch Funeral Home & Cremation Service, Center Point, by the Rev. Ken Koske. The family will greet friends from 4 to 8 p.m. Friday, July 20, 2007, at the funeral home. Burial: Center Point Cemetery, Center Point.

Survivors include his wife, Elizabeth; his three sons, Rodney Kolar of Mesa, Arizona, Dean (Cheryl) Kolar of Boynton Beach, Florida, and Mike (Gail) Kolar of Marion; two stepchildren, Jania and Edmon “Joey” Sanchez; nine grandchildren; five sisters, Agnes Wilson, Geraldine Mrkvicka, both of Cedar Rapids, Lillian Stych of San Diego, California, Lucille Welsh of Ramona, California and Doris Penn of Raymond, Iowa.

He was preceded in death in by his parents.

Leonard was born February 7, 1933, the son of Rudolph and Julia (Bohac) Kolar, in Center Point, Iowa. He served with the United States Army with the 5th Armor Division during the Korean Conflict. A graduate from Center Point High School, he married Elizabeth Sanchez in 1982 in Honduras. For 42 years, Leonard worked at Cedar Rapids Inc, retiring in 1995.
An avid bowler, he was a member of the American Association of Bowlers for the past 30 years. Leonard loved sports, especially baseball. He had pitched for a 3A baseball team in Center Point. Leonard was a cardinal fan and enjoyed remodeling houses.

A memorial fund has been established in memory of Leonard.
