Leora Ethel Brose (Candler)

Leora E. Brose, 88, of 2433 8th Avenue S.W., Cedar Rapids, Iowa, died Saturday, December 20, 2008, in Heritage Nursing & Rehab Center, Cedar Rapids, following a long illness. Services: 1:00 p.m., Tuesday, December 23, 2008, at Hope Lutheran Church, Cedar Rapids, by the Rev. Dan Clark-Bridges. Friends may call from 4 to 7 p.m., Monday, December 22, 2008, at Murdoch-Linwood Funeral Home & Cremation Service, Cedar Rapids. Burial: Cedar Memorial Park Cemetery, Cedar Rapids.
Survivors include her husband, Carl; and her children, Shirley McMahon, William Elliott, Geraldine Spoo, Mary Bernauer, Teresa Dickson and Junie Hackett.
Also surviving are 21 grandchildren and 23 great grandchildren.
Leora was preceded in death by her parents; four brothers; and two sisters.
Born August 21, 1920, in Coggon, Iowa, Leora was the daughter of Inglebert and Esther (Hagerman) Candler. On April 18, 1953, she was united in marriage to Carl Brose in North Liberty.
Leora was always full of life and enjoyed spending time with her family and friends. She also enjoyed participating in activities at the nursing home, especially bingo.
In lieu of flowers, a memorial fund has been established in her memory.
