Linda Joyce (Pillard) Chambers, 76 of Marion, Iowa, beloved mother, grandmother, great grandmother and friend, passed away from cancer on March 2, 2026, in Hiawatha, Iowa. Linda’s family will honor her at a private celebration of life. Murdoch Funeral Home & Cremation Service of Marion is assisting the family.

Linda was born on February 22, 1950, in Manchester, Iowa and was raised in Coggon, Iowa by her parents, George and Rubie (Anderson) Pillard. She later moved to Cedar Rapids, Iowa.

Linda grew up an animal lover, with many of her childhood hours spent caring for the cats, dogs, chickens and other animals on her family’s farm. She rescued several dogs during her lifetime, most recently her beloved dog ‘Chance’.

Linda was known for her big heart and her kindness. She was the physical embodiment of giving and unconditional love. She was a hard worker who spent her life caring for others. She worked hard to provide for her family and tried her hardest to ensure that everyone had what they needed, providing a meal, a place to stay or lending an ear to anyone in need.

Linda was also well known in her circles for her cooking and baking skills. She found joy in feeding those she loved. She spent many years nourishing her family and many in the community with her culinary skills. She concluded her cooking career as the Dietary Supervisor at The Villages Assisted Living and Retirement Community where she was loved and missed by the residents upon her retirement.

She loved reading before her eyesight began to fail and enjoyed making new friends in her online games as well as reconnecting with old friends over the past few years.

Those who truly knew Linda, however, understood that there was nothing more important to her than her family. She cherished family get together’ s and watching her children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren grow. She gave all of herself and loved with all of her heart. She was and will continue to be so very loved in return.

She is survived by her brother, Larry (Debbie) Pillard; her children, Kendra (Scott) Herdliska, Corey Wright, Jamie (Shawn) Robinson, Michael Chambers, Anthony Chambers, Derek (Kimmy) Chambers, Kimberly Cooper; grandchildren, Robert (Lindsey) Scott, Destiny (Evan) Berry, Leyah Morgan, Kathryn Herdliska, LeAuhna Scott, Mikey (Lauren) Chambers, Kiley (Lane)Thompson, Isabella Herdliska, Rylee Christensen, Derek Chambers Jr., Peyton Chambers, Alijah Chambers, Ainsleigh Chambers; great-grandchildren, Kimani Cooper, Kairo Scott and Ivy Scott; nieces, Candace Pillard, and Brittany (John) Dietzler. She is also survived by her best friend Karla Frazier, and bonus son, Brent Frazier.

Linda was preceded in death by her parents; her daughter, Destiny Wright; as well as many aunts and uncles.

Linda’s legacy will live on through those she loved, through her recipes, through the memories of all the love she poured into others, and through all those she touched with her kindness.
