Linda Kay was born June 18, 1947 at Willard Hospital in Manchester. She was the fifth child of Amo M. and Adele J. (Dieken) Lubben. When she was evaluated at Iowa City, her folks were told to enjoy Linda as she would not see her 18th birthday. The Lord?s will was for us to enjoy and love her for 57 years. Linda was affiliated with the Manchester Gospel Hall.
Linda attended the "Little School? on Lincoln Street. For the last 25 years, she had faithfully attended the Delaware County Vocational Service. She was a devoted worker and always willing and able to do whatever work task she was given. JoAnn Bessler, vocational instructor at the workshop, would always walk her out to the bus each night where she would always give her a hug and lately always a kiss on the cheek. Linda always wanted to know if she would have work for her tomorrow. Linda did many tasks, such as sorting beverage cans and counting pieces for kits that were packaged. She also ran the sewing machine and helped put together pillowcases. Linda helped with recycling materials for Rockwell and helped clean First State Bank at 5:30 a.m. We?re sure there were a few grumbles here and there at that hour of the morning. Linda participated in the Special Olympics for 14 years in which she received many ribbons and metals in both district and state events.
After her mother?s passing, Linda lived with Mary and Terry for nine months. On July 1, 1990 she moved to the Howard St. Community Living Home which she called "That?s my new house - the loop home,? as she couldn?t say "group.?
Linda is survived by three sisters, Margaret (William) Ramsey of Waterloo, Molly (Craig) Simcox of Bellevue, WA, and Mary L. Gentz (Terry Houlihan) of Manchester; a sister-in-law, Eileen Lubben of Manchester; eleven nieces and nephews and many great nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Amo and Adele Lubben; and a brother, Al Lubben.
