Lois Yvonne Nightingale

Lois Y. Nightingale, 68, of Dundee, Iowa, died Wednesday, July 20, 2016. Private funeral services will be held at St. John’s Lutheran Church, Dundee.
Lois is survived by her husband, Dean of Dundee; sisters, Carolyn (Mick) Pierce of Guttenberg, Linda Marting of Edgewood, and Janet (John) Berns of Dubuque; brothers-in-law, Bill Nightingale of Dundee, and Bob Nightingale of Manchester; sister-in-law, Linda (Max) Berry of Dundee, five nephews and five nieces.
Lois was preceded in death by her parents, Harold and Ethel Schutte, brother, Jerry Schutte, and sisters-in-law, Phyllis Nightingale and Kathy Nightingale.
Lois was born July 15, 2016, in Farmersburg, Iowa, the daughter of Harold and Ethel (Amling) Schutte. On June 25, 1966, Lois married Dean Nightingale in Guttenberg, Iowa and they recently celebrated their 50th Wedding Anniversary. Lois was a member of St. John’s Lutheran Church, Dundee, and Thrivent. She served on the church council, the Strawberry Point Lutheran Home Auxiliary Board, and the Little Flock Cluster Board.
Lois had a large giving heart. Over the years she took in many stray animals, especially cats. She took them in and made them family. To be adopted by Lois was a forever thing. She also helped care for many elderly people. She helped without being asked. Lois gave lovingly to her family; giving gifts, love and food. Lois was an exceptional cook. Her love and generosity will be her legacy.
