Lois Faye Schantz, 84, of Alburnett, Iowa, passed away on Wednesday, June 3, 2026, at the Dennis & Donna Oldorf Hospice House of Mercy in Hiawatha, Iowa. Service will be held at a later date at Alburnett Christian Church. Murdoch Funeral Home & Cremation Service of Marion is assisting the family.

Lois was born on December 29, 1941, in Urbana, Iowa, the daughter of Morris and Evelyn (Blankenship) Phelps. She was a graduate of Urbana High School. Lois went on to work at Rockwell Collins, until her retirement in 2000. On March 27, 1998, Lois was united in marriage to Chester Lewis Schantz. She took immense pride in her role as a homemaker, creating a warm and welcoming environment filled with love and order. She also took the same pride in her yard and flowers. Lois was also a member of the Alburnett Christian Church.

Lois was known for her deep involvement with her family, embracing her role with great affection and treating everyone with love and respect. Lois will be greatly missed by all who knew and loved her.

Lois is survived and lovingly remembered by her husband, Chester Schantz of Alburnett; daughters, Rhonda (Tarrel) Price of Urbana, Iowa, and Lori (Jamie) Carter of Independence, Iowa; stepchildren, Amy (Steve) Brown of Vinton, Iowa, Andrew (Michelle) Schantz of Frankfort, Illinois, and Aaron (Jana) Schantz of Wichita, Kansas; 16 grandchildren; 15 great-grandchildren; three sisters, Judy Phelps of Cedar Rapids, Iowa, Janet Umbenstock of Urbana, and Joy Wellington of Arizona; and very close family friend, Terry Becker.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Morris and Evelyn Phelps; daughter, Shelly Gee; son, Jeffrey Rick; two great-grandchildren, Tobias and Laiklee; and two brothers-in-law, Dennis Umbenstock and Dick Wellington.

The family would like to thank Pastor Dan Peterson for the care and concern shown to Lois and her family. Your kindness will never be forgotten.
