Louise Ramona Faur, 82, of Marion, died Wednesday, July 2, 2014, at St. Luke’s Hospital, Cedar Rapids. Funeral Service: 10:30 a.m. Monday, July 7, 2014, at Murdoch Funeral Home & Cremation Center, Marion. The family will greet friends from 2:00 p.m. to 5:00 p.m. Sunday, July 6, 2014, at Murdoch Funeral Home & Cremation Center, Marion. Burial: Oak Shade Cemetery, Marion.
Survivors include her son, David Faur of Marion; daughter, Mona Rae of Cape Girardeau, MO; and granddaughters, Mara (Joe) Uhls, and Alicia Kennon all of Cape Girardeau, MO.
She was preceded in death by her parents; husband; and two sisters, Jeanette Ham, and Joanne Reece.
Louise was born August 5, 1931, in Fairfield, IA, the daughter of Walter and Mable (Russell) Prouty. After graduating high school, she attended Iowa Wesleyan College. Louise married Robert W. Faur in Bettendorf, IA, on May 12, 1951. He died June 6, 1977. She worked as a proofreader and linotype operator for the Cedar Rapids Gazette. Louise was a member of First United Methodist Church, Marion, American Legion Auxiliary Post #298 of Marion, Women’s Business Association, and CRATOS. She enjoyed trips to the casinos, reading, and was an avid fan of the Chicago Cubs, and Iowa Hawkeyes Basketball.
