Luella M. Lesmeister, 82, of 2504 Linwood St. SW, died Wednesday, March 29, 2006, at Mercy Medical Center in Cedar Rapids from complications of pneumonia.

Funeral Mass will be 1:00 p.m. Saturday, April 1, 2006, at St. Ludmila Catholic Church by Rev. Thomas McDermott. Friends may call from 4-8 p.m. Friday at the Murdoch-Linwood Funeral Home & Cremation Service with a prayer vigil at 6:30 p.m. Friends may also call from 12-1 p.m. Saturday at the church. Burial will be in St. John?s Cemetery, Cedar Rapids.

Luella was born January 8, 1924 in Minneapolis, MN the daughter of Robert and Isabel (Winkel) Burke. She was united in marriage to Adrian Lesmeister. Luella worked as a volunteer for Correctional Services where she received the Governor?s Award for her services. She also volunteered for the V.F.W., Meals on Wheels and Knights of Columbus. Luella was an active member and volunteer for St. Ludmilas Catholic Church.

Luella was an avid bowler, loved to fish, play bingo, read and embroider. She especially enjoyed her family and spending time with her children and grandchildren.

Luella is survived by 8 children, Michael (Diana) of Cedar Rapids, Timothy (Rae) of Minneapolis, Brian (Cindy) of Wenatchee, WA, David (Juliet) of Hiawatha, Patrick (Mindy) of Cedar Rapids, Jeffrey of Cedar Rapids, Cindy (Tim) Luepke of St. Louis, and Kevin of Cedar Rapids; 17 grandchildren and 6 great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her parents; and her husband, Adrian Lesmeister in 1993.

Memorials may be directed to the Knights of Columbus or Mass offerings may be given in Luella?s name.
