M. J. "Gunner? Bideaux, 80, of 202 16th Avenue S.W., Cedar Rapids, died April 18, 2006, in Mercy Medical Center of a sudden illness. Services: 10:00 a.m. Friday, April 21, 2006, at Murdoch-Linwood Funeral Home & Cremation Service, Cedar Rapids by the Rev. Del Bear. The family will greet friends from 4-8 p.m. Thursday, April 20, 2006, with a memorial service by La Societe Des 40 Hommes Et & Chevaux at 6 p.m. Burial: Linwood Cemetery, Cedar Rapids.
Survivors include his wife of 57 years, Laura; his children, Kathy (Lamont) Myers, of Cedar Rapids, Michael J. (Cindy) Bideaux of Robins, Michelle Hall of Cedar Rapids, M. J. "Zeke? (Cindy) Bideaux of Cedar Rapids, Mark J. (Kris) Bideaux of Marion, Renee Bideaux of Cedar Rapids, Lori Bideaux and fiancé, Dave Gordon of Palo, and Rebel (Rick) Rathje of Marion; 14 grandchildren, Kim (Jim) Davenport, Brent Waltz, and Heather Hugh all of Cedar Rapids, Jeni Hall of Minneapolis, James Hall of Cedar Rapids, Matthew and Jeremy Bideaux of Cedar Rapids, and Abby and Dan Ries of Marion, Mike and Geno Moody of Cedar Rapids, and Angelica, Chelsea, and Tanner Rathje of Marion; ten great grandchildren; and his buddy, "Clyde?, his dog.
He was preceded in death by his parents; and two brothers.
Gunner was born May 14, 1925, in Dubuque, Iowa, the son of Leo and Ruby (Stevens) Bideaux. On February 5, 1949, he married Laura Tschiggfrie in Dubuque, Iowa. He served for 24 years in the US Navy as Chief Gunners Mate during WWII, the Korean Conflict, and the Viet Nam War retiring in 1967. Gunner was District Finance Rep for General Motors for 19 years retiring in 1986.
He held many chairs of office in the La Soclete Des 40 Hommes Et & Chevaux..
