Madonna "Donna" Amelia Sellner

Madonna “Donna” Amelia Sellner, 89, of Earlville, Iowa, passed away at the Good Neighbor Home on Wednesday, January 21, 2026, surrounded by her loving family. Visitation will take place from 9:00 to 10:30 a.m. Friday, January 30, 2026, at St. Joseph Catholic Church in Earlville, Mass of Christian Burial will follow at 10:30 a.m. at the Church with the Reverend Hung Le Officiating. Burial will take place at St. Joseph Catholic Cemetery, Earlville. Clifton-Murdoch Funeral Home & Cremation Service in Earlville assisted the family.

Donna was born on August 10, 1936, in Dyersville, Iowa, the daughter of Lawrence and Veronica (Krogman) Goedken. Donna and Irvin Leo Sellner were united in marriage on August 6, 1956, at the Basilica of St. Francis Xavier in Dyersville, Iowa. They made their home north of Earlville and farmed side by side for more than 36 years before moving into Earlville in 1992. Donna was an avid baker and always had a freshly baked pie, cake, or loaf of bread ready for any visitor that stopped by. She had a special place in her heart for her grandchildren and great-grandchildren, often remembering their favorite treat and inviting them over whenever she made it. She loved her red cars and jewelry but also found tremendous joy in the simpler things like picking wild berries and making jam and jelly, birdwatching, and watching the Cubbies.

Donna is survived by her five children, Cindy Mensen and Deb (Ron) Mensen both of Earlville, Vicki Meyer of Dyersville, Gary (Karelene) Sellner and Larry (LouAnn) Sellner both of Earlville; twelve grandchildren, Andy Mensen, Jamie (Mindy) Mensen, Lindsay (Zach Bindert), Tim Mensen, Kristi (Justin) Penner, Ashley (Tanner) Warrington, Dr. Dan (Samantha) Meyer, Mike (Ashleylauren) Meyer, Alex (Jackie) Sellner, Brandon Sellner, Tyler (Caitlyn) Sellner, and Kim Sellner; step-grandson, Greg (Larissa Roth) Frederick; twenty-eight great-grandchildren with one additional due in February, Owen (Allison Kettmann), Ella (Avery Holtz), and Eva Mensen, Isabelle, Bradley, Caroline, and Benjamin Bindert, Olivia Mensen, Brenna, Macklin, Canton and Heisman Penner, Lane and Neal Warrington, Mason, Leo, Mabel, Dottie, and Baby Meyer, Knox, Dax, and Elsie Meyer, AnnaLynne, Wyatt, Mellody, and Connor Sellner, Tucker, Westyn, and Brinlee Sellner. Donna is also survived by her sister, Eileen (Bill) Wiskus; in-laws, Lois Goedken, Maxine Goedken, Delores Burkle, Bonnie Sellner, Carlyn Sellner, Merlin Krapfl, David (Carol) Sellner; and numerous nieces, nephews, and cousins.

Donna was preceded in death by her parents, Lawrence and Veronica Goedken; her husband of 62 years, Irvin; siblings, Gladys (Donald) Steger, Grace (Tom) Feldman, Leo Goedken, Anthony “Bud” (Esther) Goedken, Andrew Goedken; sons-in-law, Mark Mensen, Terry Meyer; in-laws, Germaine (Gilbert) Goedken, Mildred (Ray) Geistkemper, Jim Burkle, Donald Sellner, John (Ann) Sellner, James Sellner, Carol Krapfl and Carol Raithel.
