Marcy Carin Pease, 47, of Cedar Rapids, Iowa, passed away on May 30, 2026. Visitation will be held from 4:00 to 7:00 p.m. on Thursday, June 4, 2026, at Murdoch-Linwood Funeral Home & Cremation Service in Cedar Rapids. The memorial service will begin at 11:00 a.m. on Friday, June 5, 2026, at First Lutheran Church, 1000 3rd Avenue SE, Cedar Rapids, with visitation one hour prior.

Marcy was born on September 19, 1978, in Independence, Iowa, to Steve and Donna (Pleis) Saathoff. She grew up in Hazleton, Iowa, where she developed a strong sense of family that would define her life. She graduated from Oelwein High School in 1997 and went on to attend the University of Iowa, earning a B.A. in Theatre Arts Management in 2001.

It was at the University of Iowa that Marcy met the love of her life, Jacob "Jake" Pease. Together, they built a life grounded in love, laughter, and friendship. After six years living in Montana, they returned to Cedar Rapids in 2008 to begin the chapter that brought Marcy her greatest joy: raising Harper and Thomas. Her children were the center of her world and the source of her deepest pride.

Marcy embraced motherhood with her whole heart. She was the kind of mom who never missed a moment, whether it was a dance recital, tennis match, or everyday milestone. She celebrated every achievement, offered encouragement through every challenge, and made Harper and Thomas feel endlessly loved and supported. Her presence was a constant source of comfort. Marcy also loved traveling with her family and believed deeply in giving her children the gift of experiences. Whether relaxing on a beach with the sun on her face, exploring the mountains, or discovering someplace new, she treasured the time spent together and the memories they created. Some of her happiest moments were found in those adventures, sharing the beauty of the world with the people she loved most.

In 2015, Marcy joined Prestige Global Meeting Source as an Event Coordinator. Her organizational talents, creativity, and ability to connect with people helped her grow into the role of Event Director. She excelled professionally, but what truly set her apart was the way she built relationships. Marcy never viewed colleagues and clients as simply people she worked with, they became friends. Her bright smile, welcoming spirit, and genuine interest in others left a lasting impression on everyone she met.

Marcy's commitment to others extended far beyond her career and into the community. She was a dedicated volunteer and tireless supporter of her children's schools, programs, and activities. She proudly wore the title of "Dance Mom" and cherished every opportunity to support Harper and her teammates. Whether she was chairing the Warrior Dance Battle, serving on the Hospitality Team, supporting the Washington Warriors Athletic Club, or driving a van full of dancers to competitions across the Midwest, she gave her time freely. She believed in showing up for people.

Family was at the heart of everything Marcy did. She celebrated the people she loved wholeheartedly and made each of them feel special. Whether sitting in the bleachers cheering on a niece or nephew, checking in with a friend who needed support, or gathering loved ones around a table, Marcy had a gift for making people feel seen, valued, and cared for. Whether celebrating a major accomplishment or an ordinary day, she made the people around her feel important.

Above all, Marcy will be remembered for the extraordinary care, generosity, and devotion she showed to others. She was the person people turned to in times of celebration and in times of need. She welcomed others wholeheartedly and offered help without hesitation. She was a light in this world, a blessing to everyone fortunate enough to know her, and her absence will be felt deeply by all who loved her.

Marcy is survived by her husband, Jake Pease; her children, Harper and Thomas; her parents, Steve and Donna Saathoff; her sisters, Mandi (Clint) Nelsen and Mattie (Chris) Brawner; her brother, Michael (Kelly) Saathoff; her father-in-law, Tom Pease; her brother-in-law, Matt Pease (Brooke Boretsky); and her cherished nieces and nephews: Elle Nelsen, Shaylee Spicer, Lane Nelsen, Kathleen Exertier, Tyde Nelsen, Hank Brawner, Weston Saathoff, Apolline Exertier, Beck Brawner, Nolan Spicer, and Wilson Saathoff.

She was preceded in death by her maternal grandparents, Fred and Lorraine Pleis; her paternal grandparents, Don and Marie Saathoff; and her mother-in-law, Allene Pease.

Marcy's legacy lives on in the family she cherished, the friendships she nurtured, and the countless lives she touched through her kindness, generosity, and unwavering support. Though she will be deeply missed, her example and spirit will remain with all who knew and loved her.
