Margaret Lavaun “Peggy” Mulholland, 85, of Delhi, Iowa, went to be with the Lord peacefully on July 25, 2025, with her family lovingly by her side.
Peggy is survived by her daughter, Nancy Kintzle of Delhi; son, Robert Terhune (Dorthea) of Manchester, Iowa, and her brother, Jim Hughes. She leaves behind a proud legacy in her grandchildren, Jason and Janie Fawcett of Robins, Cathy Riggs (Josh Martin) of Alburnett, Chris and Jess Walters of Van Horne, Rebecca and Matthew Martin of Delhi, and Heather and Dave Houston of Fairfield. Peggy had three very special friends, Karen, Georgette, and Maryanne. She is also lovingly remembered by her dear friend, Eldon Pfab.
Peggy was blessed to love and be loved by many great-grandchildren: Tatelynn (Spencer), Tierney, Tinley, Addelynn (Ethan), Greenly, AJ, Braxton (Hayley), Parker (Madison), Lynnden, Steiger, Lincoln, Connor, Addison, Eleanore, Kenneth, Wiatt, and Clarence. She also adored her one great-great-grandchild, Saylor. She is also survived by her nieces, nephews, and cousins who held her dear as well as her honorary grandchildren, Kara Bradley, Holly Sark, and Cameron Hanson.
Peggy is preceded in death by her beloved husband, James Patrick Mulholland; children, Jimmy, David, and Kimberly; great-grandson, Baby Ethan; parents, James and Genevieve Hughes; and brother, Robert Hughes.
Peggy spent her final years in the workforce doing what she loved most, cooking for childcare centers, and spending her afternoons rocking babies. She had a special touch in the kitchen and an unmatched gift for holding fussy little ones until they fell asleep in her arms. To say Peggy had a personality would be putting it mildly. She was blunt, bold, and always said exactly what she was thinking no matter who was around to hear it. Subtlety was not in her vocabulary, but honesty absolutely was.
She had dry wit, a sharp tongue, and a heart that beat deeply for her family. Though she could be a little negative (or as she’d call it, “realistic”), she was fiercely loyal, deeply loving, and always good for a laugh you didn’t see coming. You may not have always liked what she said, but you never doubted where you stood with her and that was her gift. Believe it or not, Peggy quickly became a resident favorite at Monticello Rehab Center and fellow residents shared how sweet she was, something that never failed to make us smile.
A private graveside service will be held at a later date. Murdoch-Linwood Funeral Home & Cremation Service, Cedar Rapids, Iowa assisted the family.
We will miss her fire, her sass, her kitchen magic, and her unwavering love. Heaven just got a little louder and a lot more honest.
The family wishes to extend heartfelt thanks to the Monticello Rehab Center and Above and Beyond Hospice for their loving care and support over the past several months.
