Marguerite Celia Andrews

Marguerite Celia Andrews, 90, of Marion, Iowa, formerly of Walker, Iowa, passed away on Tuesday, September 22, 2026, at Bickford of Marion after a long battle with Alzheimer’s. A Memorial Service will be held at noon on Saturday, October 3, 2026, at Murdoch Funeral Home & Cremation Service in Marion, with visitation one hour prior. Inurnment will be held at a later date at Walker Cemetery.

Marguerite was born on February 29, 1936, in Cedar Rapids, Iowa, the daughter of Henry and Mary (Haas) Niemeier. She was a graduate of Walker High School. On July 12, 1957, Marguerite was united in marriage to William “Billy” Andrews in Nashua, Iowa.

She dedicated many years working as a Payroll Benefit Supervisor at Iowa Manufacturing, until her retirement in 1997. She was a member of the Walker United Methodist Church.

Marguerite was a caretaker her whole life, giving of herself in ways both large and small and creating comfort through her steady presence. She found joy in gardening and took special pleasure in her tending to her flowers. Marguerite was also an avid canner and also found time to make her own wine. She also enjoyed watching westerns and cooking for family, where she always made more food than any of them could eat. Marguerite will be greatly missed by all who knew and loved her.

Marguerite is survived and lovingly remembered by her grandsons, Martin Coleman of Middleburg, Florida, and Mitchell (Kaelee) Coleman of Walker; and four great-grandchildren, Katie, Kevin, Shanna, and Paislee.

She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, William Andrews; daughter, Janet Coleman; sister, Marilyn Miell; and brothers, Ralph and Robert Niemeier.
