Maria L. Brodersen Verstreater

Maria L. Brodersen Verstreater, 86, a resident of Crestview Acres, Marion, formerly of Hiawatha, died Saturday, April 10, 2004, at the care center, following a short illness. Services: 9:00 a.m. Thursday, April 15, 2004, at Murdoch-Linwood Funeral Home & Cremation Service, Cedar Rapids, by Bishop James Hecht. Friends may call from 4 to 8 p.m. Wednesday, April 14, 2004, at the funeral home. Burial: Linwood Cemetery, Cedar Rapids.
Survivors include a son, James Broderson of Cedar Rapids; a daughter, Brodina Curtis of Marion; ten grandchildren; and seven great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her husbands; and a son, Marvin Broderson.
Maria was born July 3, 1917, the daughter of Henry and Minnie (VanValtenberg) Doring. She married Christian Brodersen, who died in 1962. She then married Oscar Verstreater. He died in 1987. A homemaker, Maria was a good mother and dearly loved children. She will be missed by all.
