Marie was born April 10, 1915 in Earlville, the daughter of Lester and Beulah (Zeitler) Hunt. She graduated from Earlville High School and attended two years at Bayless Business College. Marie was an Administrative Secretary for Iowa Electric Light & Power in Manchester for 31 years, retiring in 1979.
Marie was also known by her brothers as “Ressy”, for whatever reason! “Tex” was a name she earned by living (and fishing) in Texas in the 40’s. She loved fishing with her father, Les, many times visiting the Mississippi in search for catfish.
After her retirement in 1979, Marie volunteered her time and gifted her estate to Camp Courageous which was very dear to her heart. She believed deeply in helping those who needed a helping hand. There are many who have benefitted from her love and generosity.
Marie is survived by a nephew, Gerald “Bud” Hunt, Jr. of Savannah, Georgia.
Marie was preceded in death by her parents, Lester and Beulah Hunt; two brothers, Donald and Gerald Hunt, and her dear Aunt & Uncle, Georgia and Lou Holbert of the Holbert family farms in Greeley, IA.
Her nephew, Gerald “Bud” Hunt , Jr., and his children are making a donation to the Wounded Warrior’s’ Project in memory of Marie and the wonderful friends who gave her care and friendship for the last several years.
Memorials may be directed to Camp Courageous, or Wounded Warrior Project.
