Marilyn (Novotny) Kitterman, 79, of Cedar Rapids, Iowa, died Thursday, October 3, 2024, The Woodlands at Meth-Wick in Cedar Rapids. Visitation: 4 – 6 p.m. Friday, October 11, 2024, at Murdoch-Linwood Funeral Home & Cremation Service, Cedar Rapids with a Memorial Service to immediately follow at 6 p.m. at the funeral home. A livestream of the memorial service may be accessed on the funeral home website tribute page for Marilyn, under “photos and videos or media,” starting at 6 p.m. on October 11. A Graveside Service will be held at 9 a.m. October 26, 2024, at Linwood Cemetery in Cedar Rapids.

Marilyn was born October 25, 1944, in Cedar Rapids, the daughter of Joseph and Bernice (Melsa) Novotny. She graduated from Washington High School in 1962. On December 26, 1964, Marilyn was united in marriage to Bob Kitterman in Cedar Rapids. She worked for the Cedar Rapids School District for over 25 years until her retirement. She enjoyed water aerobics, her dogs, and playing cards. Marilyn liked joining retired school staff for their taco group get togethers. She loved her family very much and the time they spent together, especially hosting holiday events. She also enjoyed spending time with her companion, Harry Jensen, while at Meth-Wick. Marilyn will be dearly missed by her friends and family.

Marilyn is survived by her sons, Rob (Michelle) Kitterman III of Johnston, Iowa, Chris (Alice) Kitterman of Cedar Rapids, and Kevin (Tanya) Kitterman of Cedar Rapids; grandchildren, David Yancey, Payton, Alex, Kate, Makayla, Quin, and Sam Kitterman (Tyler Davidson); sisters, Karen (Jim) Biddinger of Michigan, JoAnne (Jack) Hollinger of Nebraska, and Joyce (Dick) McGowan of Cedar Rapids; as well as many nieces and nephews.

Marilyn was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Bob Kitterman; nephew, Jeff Biddinger; brother-in-law, Wayne Karr; and niece, Kari Person.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be directed to the Alzheimer’s Association.
