Marvin “Marv” Ray Aldrich, 75, of Hiawatha, Iowa, passed away on Monday, June 8, 2026, at Mercy Medical Center in Cedar Rapids, Iowa. A graveside service will be held at 2 p.m. on Friday, June 12, 2026, at Golden Prairie Cemetery in Ryan, Iowa. Murdoch Funeral Home & Cremation Service of Marion is assisting the family.
Marv was born on August 30, 1950, in Manchester, Iowa, the son of Raymond and Tossie (Cogdill) Aldrich. He was a 1968 graduate of North Linn High School and went on to work in the automotive industry as a car salesman and manager. In November of 1970, Marv was united in marriage to Diane Ellison. Marv enjoyed playing cards, especially poker, gin, and euchre, and liked trying his luck at gambling. Although he was a quiet man, he had a great sense of humor and could always share a funny joke. A loyal fan of the St. Louis Cardinals, he was always willing to help others, often providing rides to appointments without hesitation. Marv was known for his positive attitude and seldom complained. But his greatest joy was spending time with his beloved grandchildren, whom he loved dearly. Marv will be greatly missed by all who knew and loved him.
Marv is survived and lovingly remembered by his wife, Diane Aldrich; children, Chad (Debbie) Aldrich of Afton, Iowa, and Niki Hansen (Jason Tallon) of Cedar Rapids; grandchildren, Cole (Shianna) Aldrich, Kelsey Aldrich (Hunter Case), Asher Aldrich, Parker Aldrich, and Eliana Hansen; great-grandson, Maverick; and siblings, Sara (Les) Kalina of Summerville, South Carolina, Dean Aldrich of Marion, Iowa, and Sylvia (Jim) Grant of Marion.
He was preceded in death by his parents; sister, Patty Aldrich; and daughter-in-law, Angela Aldrich.
