NE, Cedar Rapids.

Marvin Lee Rogers was born July 11, 1934, in Cushing, Oklahoma, the oldest child of Belle (Cobb) and Burr Rogers. He received his education in the Cushing schools, graduating from high school with the Class of 1952. He enlisted in the United States Air Force in May of 1953, and after basic and additional training, he spent three years in Japan, where he received additional training and experience in radar installation and communications electronics. He received his discharge in April 1957 and continued in the Air Force reserves for another four years.

He then enrolled at Ark City Junior College in Arkansas City, Kansas, graduating two years later with an Associate degree. While attending Oklahoma State, he had an opportunity for employment with the Martin Marietta Corporation in Denver, Colorado. The work and the location were most attractive, so he was off to the mountains.

The summer of 1963, Marv met Mary Roggow, a Minnesota girl whose roommate was dating his roommate, the classic "fix-up" threw them together, and the rest, as they say, is history. Mary and Marv were married on April 25, 1964, in Immanuel Lutheran Church, Dunnell, Minnesota. By the end of 1965, Mary and Marv decided it was time to complete his education, so it was off to Oklahoma State to earn his SEE, followed by the move to Iowa and employment at Collins Radio.

Marv was a bowler, and participated in league bowling from the fall of 1969 until 2020. He truly enjoyed the camaraderie of his teams and was always thinking about how he could improve his game. And then here was baseball. Marv loved the game, played in high school, and followed the St. Louis Cardinals for years. In the spring of 1984, he was approached to manage/coach a Babe Ruth team of 13-15-year-old boys, sponsored by the Marion American Legion. He took on a labor of love that lasted 17 seasons and was also Metro Babe Ruth League President for a number of terms.

Family life was his joy, with son Bryan and daughter Susan quite sure they were each Dad's favorite. Travels to national parks, visits to extended family, and many NCAA wrestling tournaments created a legacy of wonderful memories. From high school wrestling to the college level, and even Olympic trials, he enjoyed following several teams, but his heart was always with his beloved Oklahoma State Cowboys.

Survivors include his wife, Mary; his son, Bryan Rogers; daughter, Susan Gray and son-in-law, Michaeljohn Gray; dearly loved granddaughter, Johanna Gray; and bonus son, Robert Matheny, who became a part of the family. Also surviving are his siblings, Wilma Seabaugh; Beverly (Larry) McKinney; Don Rogers; and Gavin (Christy) Rogers; as well as in-laws Mike (Nexhmij) Roggow; Merilee Dempsey and Mark Thompson and numerous nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents, his sister, Carolyn (Max) Tow; brother-in-law, Ralph Seabaugh; and his brother, Clifford Rogers.

Marv's faith has carried him through life, and has been the foundation of the values by which he lived.

His naturally friendly demeanor, his thoughtfulness and consideration of others, and his willingness to lend a helping hand is a treasured memory that will remain with those who knew and loved him
