Marvin Floyd Spragg, 77, of Cedar Rapids, Iowa, passed away on Tuesday, July 21, 2026, at Harmony Cedar Rapids. Murdoch Funeral Home & Cremation Service of Marion is assisting the family.

Marvin was born on January 23, 1949, in Oelwein, Iowa, the son of Donald and Dorothy (Pierce) Spragg. He was a 1967 graduate of Oelwein High School and earned his associate’s degree in criminal justice from Kirkwood Community College. Marvin proudly served in the United States Marine Corps from September 6, 1967, to February 22, 1974, during the Vietnam War.

Marvin dedicated a rewarding 33 years to Rockwell Collins in Cedar Rapids, working as a Test Technician. He also served as a Reserve Sheriff Deputy in Linn County for many years. Marvin was an active member of the Palo American Legion Post 679. He will be missed by all who knew and loved him.

Marvin is survived and lovingly remembered by his two daughters, Jeanette Hill of Lisbon, Iowa, and Varina (Jay) Allpress of Solon, Iowa; grandchildren, Alex, Hannah, Breaton, and Hailey (Jeremy); brother, Jeff (Deb) Spragg of Oelwein; many step-grandchildren and step-great-grandchildren; and his beloved friends at the Starlight Room in Cedar Rapids.

He was preceded in death by his parents and son-in-law, John Mahnke.
