Mary Althea Church (Gillis)

Mary A. Church, 83, of rural Elk Point, South Dakota, formerly of Linn County, died Monday, December 24, 2007, in Elk Point, following a stroke. Services: 2:00 p.m., Friday, December 28, 2007, at Murdoch-Linwood Funeral Home & Cremation Service, Cedar Rapids, by Chaplain Kim Vogel. Friends may call from 4 to 8 p.m. Thursday, December 27, at the funeral home. Burial: Roger’s Grove Cemetery, Ely, Iowa.
Surviving are Ginny Brown of Elk Point, South Dakota, Peggy Stokes of Iowa City; Steve Mason of Las Vegas and Brad Mason of Cedar Rapids; 29 grandchildren; two brothers; and ex-husband, John W. Church of Belle Plaine.
Preceded in death by her parents; son, Craig Mason; husband, Kern Leser; two grandsons; two brothers; and two sisters.
Mary was a life time member of the American Legion Auxiliary San Quentin Post #555, Ely, Iowa, and memorials may be directed to any Legion program or Hospice of Siouxland, 4300 Hamilton Blvd., Sioux City, Iowa 51104.
