Mary Louise Collins

Mary Louise Collins, 77, of 365 Marion Blvd., died Sunday, August 8, 2004, at Mercy Medical Center, following a short illness. Services: 10:30 a.m. Wednesday, August 11, 2004, at St. Joseph Catholic Church in Marion by Rev. John Gossman. Friends may call from 4-8 p.m. Tuesday at Murdoch Funeral Home & Cremation Center in Marion where a rosary will be recited at 6 p.m. Burial: Mt. Calvary Cemetery in Cedar Rapids.
Survivors include her daughter, Molly Ferrin and husband Dean of Marshalltown; her son, Patrick R. Collins and wife Elaine of Cedar Rapids; a brother, Rev. John Gallagher of Dubuque; and six grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband; and two brothers, Raymond Gallagher and Thomas C. Gallagher.
Mary was born March 25, 1927, the daughter of Raymond J. and Bridget E. (Ryan) Gallagher in Mineral Point, Wisconsin. She graduated from Marion High School in 1945 and from Mercy School of Nursing in 1948. On August 26, 1950, she married Michael P. Collins, Jr. at St. Joseph Catholic Church in Marion. He died March 4, 1996.
Mary was a member of St. Joseph Catholic Church in Marion, Mt. Mercy Alumni Association and Mercy Hospital Auxiliary.
