Mary Edith Lepley, 99, a resident of Winslow House, Marion, died Monday, December 31, 2007, at St. Luke’s Hospital, Cedar Rapids, following a short illness. Private Graveside Service: Rose Hill Memorial Gardens, Marshalltown, at a later date. Arrangements with Murdoch-Linwood Funeral Home & Cremation Service, Cedar Rapids.
Survivors include a son, Arthur Esperson of Arkansas; two daughters, Beverly Scott of Arkansas and Ethel Capps of Marion, Iowa; and a brother, John Schmidt of Mason City, Iowa;
Also surviving are 21 grandchildren; many great-grandchildren and great-great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Willet; four children, William Schadt, Agnes Brown, Betty Beyers and Alvin Schadt; five brothers, and a sister.
Mary was born December 6, 1908, the daughter of Fred and Ida (Josh) Schmidt, in Barron, Wisconsin. Mary worked in the restaurant and food service business as a cook for many years. She enjoyed the Witwer Center.
A memorial fund has been established in memory of Mary.
